Stay at the Gavolerie means to be welcomed in the XVII century, when the Camaldoli monks used to live there. Their hermitage was a building at the place of the actual gîte. The Château de la Gavolerie was built on the remains of their church. In the manor house we will tell you the story of Gilles Renard, a gentleman of Besse : the legend and his life at the court of Louis XIII. The court was a place full of plots and conspiracies, also a place of good manners and dress code. A local stylist, fond of XVII century clothes, will tell you the story of clothing. You will discover trousers, collars and the famous “galands”.
